Message → Action item inside Slack

Keep action items from getting lost in chat.

Action Item Tracker turns Slack messages and threads into trackable action items. Assign an owner, set a due date, send reminders, and give managers a clean dashboard per channel.

Built for agencies and engineering teams running work in Slack — standups, deliveries, follow-ups, and reviews.

Everything you need to manage work in Slack

Fast capture, clear ownership, and just enough structure to keep teams moving.

Message → Action

Create actions from messages & threads

Turn “we should do this” into a trackable action. Keep context by linking back to the original message.

Ownership + due dates

Assign owners and due dates

Make accountability explicit. Owners get clear DMs and can mark tasks done in one click.

Manager dashboard

Track progress per channel

A clean manager view shows what’s open, overdue, due soon, and completed — scoped by channel.

Reminders

Smart reminders

Automatic nudges at 24h, 1h, and due time. Managers can also nudge with cooldown protection.

Weekly digest

Weekly summary

Send a weekly overview of open, overdue, and upcoming actions to keep the channel on track.

Lightweight

Minimal process, maximum clarity

No “new tool” adoption. Your work stays in Slack — the tracker just makes it visible and manageable.

How it works

Install, capture actions, and track outcomes. Works great for standups, project channels, and delivery follow-ups.

1) Install to Slack

Authorize the app for your workspace. Add it to the channels where work happens.

Tip: In private channels, invite the app with /invite @Action Item Tracker.

2) Create action items

Create actions via /add_action or from a message action (message → action item).

Owners receive a DM and can mark done with one click.

3) Track in App Home

Users see “My actions”. Managers get a channel-scoped dashboard, reminders, nudges, and weekly digest.

Use manager permissions per channel to keep it focused.

FAQ

Common questions about permissions, data, and how the app works.

Does this work in threads?

Yes. You can create action items from a message or thread context so the task retains the original discussion.

Do you store my Slack messages?

The app stores only what it needs to provide the service (e.g., action item description, owner, due date, and channel/workspace identifiers). For details, see the Privacy Policy.

What permissions does the app need?

Typical scopes include posting messages/ephemerals, opening modals, reading basic channel info, and sending DMs. Your exact scopes depend on features enabled (e.g., message actions, reminders, manager dashboard).

Can we limit manager access per channel?

Yes. Manager view is channel-scoped. Only assigned channel managers can view/manage that channel’s action items.

How do reminders work?

When an action has a due date, reminders can be scheduled (e.g., 24h, 1h, and at due time). Owners can mark done from the reminder DM.
